Jeffrey Modell Canadian Immunodeficiency Network – PI Video Conferences

In 2008 The Jeffrey Modell Canadian Network formed the PI Video Conference series. Since then it has proven to be a highly valuable medium to discuss difficult cases as it allows expert physicians across the country to communicate and care for patients. Immunologists across Canada at JMCIN sites, rotate hosting video presentations, in which two complex cases are presented by trainees and discussed virtually. To add further educational value to these rounds, as of February 2009 the rounds became a self accredited event by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, for 1.5 hours per seminar. Attendance has been spectacular. Currently each province and territory in Canada has a Telemedicine network. Healthcare providers have recognized the potential for using this technology to erase the geographical barriers that separate them from their patients and colleagues. Participation continued to be accessible through these networks and webcasting. Site participation increased to 11 national sites from 7 sites in 2008, ensuring physicians in remote areas can listen in to our JMCIN Canadian experts, enhancing their own personal knowledge on PI patients.
Sites that have presented cases to date include:
